Wordless Wednesday

Finley got his SureStep braces yesterday for his little footsies. In the photo he is trying them out for the first time with help from Daddy and his friend Jordyn. His feature Curious George. Way cool! :) We will get a new pair in about a week since these aren't fitting just right. Now we just need to find shoes that fit easily over these. Does anyone out there have a shoe suggestion? He has tons of cute shoes, but will have to wear these braces all waking hours and not many of his shoes will fit over them. The ones he has on barely fit over them.

Barney Saves The Day Again! *Updated*

My little Kierbear is sick. Poor thing! We have been to the doctor twice this week and he's on strong antibiotics, but he just looks so miserable. I wish I could take the sickness away. The X-ray says he has tracheobronchitis and the doctor said it is probably caused by a bacterial infection. He is cuddly and whiny. He also has a fever and drinks his bottles in sips (has to stop to breathe between swallows). He has dark little bags under his eyes. In short, he is just not himself. I know kids get sick and this is a normal thing kids and parents deal with, but I'd rather they not get sick, especially little ones that can't tell you where it hurts.

Nothing makes him happy except cuddles from dad (who is at work) and watching Barney. He actually laughed at that big purple dinosaur dancing a minute ago. Ahhh music to mommy's ears since it's the first laugh in days.

Figures, mommy is the one blowing his nose, giving him his meds, changing his diapers and loving him during the day, but Barney saves the day again!

I am going to go paint myself purple now. See ya!
Update: So, we went back to the doctor today and he has the flu in addition to a bacterial infection. Poor guy. He's sleeping it off right now.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy! Love Him!

Happy second Father's Day to the best daddy in the world. We love you muches and lots, Daddy! Thank you for always playing with us when you get home from work and thank you for teaching us stuff and letting us use you for a jungle gym.

We love you forever!

Sit Down!

I sound like a broken record. Finley has figured out how to get unbuckled from his high chair and thinks it is fun to stand while he eats.

Here is our fives times a day conversation (three meals and two little snacks).

Me: “Sit down, please.”
Finley: “Drrr”

Let me translate: He doesn’t have a big vocabulary. Well, at least it’s not one English speaking folks understand. This is a catch all word that means general irritation.

Me: “Please sit down, you will get hurt if you fall.”
Finley: “Drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!”

He then proceeds to sit down and eat a few bites. Thirty seconds later, a similar conversation ensues.

Me: “Why are you standing up again? Please sit down like Mommy asked you to!” (In a mildly irritated voice)
Finley: “Drrrrr, Dada!”
Me: “Daddy isn’t here, he’s at work so please sit down. If he was here he’d have the same issues with you standing up.”
Finley: “Dit Down!”

Um, what? That sounded just like actual words. The funny thing is that he DIDN’T sit down. I think he was commanding me to do so and leave him be.

Good thing his big boy seat is on order. I wonder how long it will take him to figure out how to get out of it?

Oh and for those that don't follow my review blog, here are some recent photos I took... Not sure but almost all the smiley shots were blurry. Here's a few of the better shots. I have a few more of Kieran I need to go through. There is just never enough time!

Excitement in Our House!

I am so proud of my boys. Finley is playing with his little Leap Frog radio he received for his birthday from his friend Jennifer and he is imitating the sounds so well. He just did the "d" sound great. He's been going around the house doing that and saying "d" words and now I know why.

And what is Kieran up to? Well, only standing up on his own without holding on and taking three steps right in front of my eyes (of course with no camera in sight) JUST NOW!!

I was shocked that he let go and just did that. He then fell down and didn't seem at all bothered that he fell down. Finley watched this all and laughed but then I saw him practicing his walking more (to perfect it). I bet he's thinking, "No way, Kieran will run past me!"

Update: While typing this, Kieran just did it again! I am bound and determined to get a photo or video!

Ok, just had to brag on my boys a bit. Now back to your regularly scheduled surfing, laundry or baby wrangling.

Do Mommies Get Sick Days?

So, here's my question for today: Who takes care of the caretaker when she's sick?

"Do you think I can trust this guy with my hot rod, Mommy?"
"I think the problem is under the hood, sir."

Both the boys are sick and, of course, they gave it to mommy. Before I had kids, I could just take a sick day and bundle up in a blanket and watch reruns of A Baby Story. Since I haven't taught the dogs how to change diapers, pour milk into sippy cups, stack blocks or tuck in babies, I don't think I'll be getting a sick day today (or anytime soon for that matter). I wish curing a cold was as easy as fixing a car.

So, how do caretakers "get lots of rest" as the doctor's suggest? I always wondered why I seldom hear of a doctor or nurse calling in sick. Do they take some super vitamin to prevent getting sick from those they take care of? Just think about it... doctors and nurses are CONSTANTLY around sick people. I guess it's true that your immunity to certain illnesses increases the more you are exposed.

Maybe there's a light at the end of the tunnel then. Maybe being the caretaker is actually helping me gain immunity to all these toddler and baby bugs. I have to look on the bright side, right?

Now, I'm off to make some hot tea for me and snuggle a couple of sick babies. Hey, it's that or do a video review where I sound like Kermit's long lost sister.

Have a wonderful (and healthy) Monday, y'all!
